Model TVB200-Plus

TV-to-VGA Converter / Line Doubler
with
4x1 AV Switch, RS232 Serial control
Description
Display any NTSC or PAL video signal from video
camera, DVD, or VCR on any VGA monitor, LCD, or projector. The TVB200-Plus
doubles the frame rate by turning the interlaced TV signal into a
"progressive scan" (non-interlaced) signal suitable for high
resolution display devices.
The TVB200-Plus provides 2 RCA composite, 1
S-Video, and 1 VGA input, all with their own corresponding stereo audio. Select
any of the inputs either by using individual push-button switches on the front
panel or by means of the RS232 serial port. The audio inputs have their own
adjustable volume settings making it perfect for balancing the output volume
level regardless of the input selection.
This feature rich converter can switch between the
PC and TV inputs automatically. When the device is in "Auto" mode, if
no TV video signal is present, it selects the PC input and as soon as a TV input
is detected, it switches to the TV input by itself. This makes the converter
perfect for educational facilities where the presenter does not even have to
worry about making selections on the front panel.
A front panel enhancement switch is available to
improve the quality of the converted VGA output. It is based on non-linear Gamma
correction. If the TV video input has dim areas as well as bright areas (such as
images from endoscopes used in medical procedures), simply increasing the
brightness would not be desirable since it washes out the entire image and
causes the already bright areas to "bloom". The enhancement feature of
the TVB200-Plus, brings out the details in the dark areas without over driving
the already bright regions of the image.
The unit features non-volatile memory to store the
selected channel and performance characteristics. The TVB-200's output can drive
VGA cables to 200 feet. Included are: a small power adapter and 6 ft video and
audio cables for connection to the PC’s VGA and sound outputs.

Control Panel Software
The TVB200-Plus can be controlled via the serial
port using standard ASCII characters. Hall Research provides An optional
Windows-based "Control Panel" software, available for free download.
The software includes options for changing the default brightness, contrast,
audio switching/mixing, selecting input channels, getting a status report, and
restoring factory default settings. You need a straight-through DB9
Male-to-Female cable for connection to a PC.
